Our family came in here (first timers)for an early dinner this past Sunday. Do not be misled by the location appearing in a strip mall near a Kohls. Once you step inside, you will feel transported into a classy, well appointed space with beautiful decor and plenty of dining space. The layout is quite simple and genius that allows for really easy accommodation for large parties but also some tucked aside smaller intimate dining tables. For those that still cannot get used to a lot of BYOB spots in NJ- this place has a bar space. On to the food...which the menu boasts as a bit of indian, chinese and thai. Paneer Tikka Shaslik- seasoned red and green paneer squares, cooked in a tandoor and with a great green chutney for dipping. This is a timeless go-to for our family at and restaurant that serves it- this version did not disappoint. Cauliflower Manchurian Dry- crispy tempura cauliflower tossed in an indo-chinese influenced sauce with onions, garlic and what may be soy sauce. Our 8 yr old nearly devoured this on his own! Chili Garlic Noodles- another indo-chinese influenced dish- the wife's favorite! Vegetable Rajbogh- mixed veggies cooked in a "Mumbai" sauce. 1) was not stretched with potatoes and 2) Mumbai- keep doing what you are doing! Def my fav of the night and the perfect ratio of veg to sauce. Only a few bites made it home as leftovers and I made short work of it the next day! Roti no butter - what better vessel to dip into the veg rajbogh Laccha Paratha- so flaky and fresh! If there was one gripe- none of our dishes came with rice- something we have become accustomed to with indian food. Just an oddity that would have been even more pronounced if we didnt order breads. Still this was enough to warrant a 4 star rating. However, we had a lovely experience that quickly overcame this star gap and made this a full 5 star experience. Sunday evening the restaurant had live singers- a lovely husband/wife duo that apparently have been singing here for 3 years. This couple was no hokey karaoke champs- they were quite amazing. At one point the wife came to our table to show me a pic of her friend and politely pointing out how my wife was a doppelgänger. We had a polite and sweet exchange and before leaving our table she asked if we had any requests. We asked for a classic and within a minute she and her husband performed a beautiful rendition. Will definitely be back here!

I ordered a few things from Spice Culture for pick up and it was my first time trying their food. I've heard great things about this restaurant so I wanted to see what the hype was about! Everyone who's told me about this restaurant has always mentioned one specific dish - the crispy lotus wheel. I picked up 2 variations of the crispy lotus wheel - chili and honey. I think this appetizer was awesome! Both flavors are so different but so yummy. The chili one wasn't too spicy in my opinion and the honey one was very sticky and sweet. I'd suggest sitting at the restaurant and buying this appetizer as it gets soggy pretty fast. Both of these are definitely a 4.5/5 in my opinion! I also got the Szechuan Hakka Noodles. I'd rate these a 2.75/5. I ordered them as medium spice but I felt like there was no spice added. It also tasted a little old in my opinion. I was pretty disappointed with the noodles. Lastly, I ordered Chili Paneer with gravy and Chili Tofu with gravy. The paneer was nice and firm and the gravy was the right amount of spice. The chili tofu was the same - I wish the tofu pieces were just a little smaller though. Overall, Spice Culture has a huge menu and the dishes I tried were very good. I'd definitely make the trip back just for the lotus root.
